This seasons Bezza Europe competition got underway this week with the top 32 from last season qualifying, along with the winners of the other cup competitions making it through to this years comp.

Glenn Baker, Aaron Carr and Alan A Jobling started off their European campaign on fire during the week, all scoring 17 points, the joint second highest tally in Bezza Europe history. All 3 players predicted 4 correct scores and 5 correct outcomes to take an early lead after matchday 1.

2 x Bezza Europe runner up, Dan Stewart, was second with 16 points. While Anthony Bosher and Chris Wood were 3rd on the opening week with 14 points. Stewart, Bosher and Wood all had a correct prediction of some kind in all 10 games!

Current champion Stevie Docherty starts his defence with a solid 9 points.

Stevie Docherty is the new Bezza Europe champion after an 11-7 win over Alex McIsaac last night. Docherty wins his second title of the season after picking up the Bezza Shield before Christmas. The damage was done in the first leg last week as Docherty took a 4 point lead over former league runner up McIsaac into this week’s games. …

Chilton Conquers Europe

Steve Chilton is the new Bezza Europe champion after beating Brian Baird 3-2 in the final this week. Its the first trophy of Chilton’s Bezza League career and it ensures another Bezza Europe campaign next season. It was looking like Baird was going to take the win after being 1-0 up after the first 3 games. During the PSG v Arsenal game, Baird was leading 2-1 until Saka’s goal for Arsenal turned things around for Chilton. Chilton took the 3 points from the final game to take the Bezza Europe title home. A massive win for Chilton and his Bezza League status! For Baird, back to the drawing board after coming close twice now, Bezza Cup semi final and Bezza Europe runner up. Congratulations Steve.
