Aitchison Cruises To League Title

Neil Aitchison is the new Bezza League champion!

After spending 33 weeks at the top it seemed inevitable that the league title was heading Aitchisons way. He took over at the top of the table on week 5 and only dropped off once until the end of the season. The chasing pack tried to put pressure on over the last few weeks, closing the gap to 4 points at one stage, but no-one was really able to lay down a serious challenge. Its a first piece of Bezza League silverware for Aitchison having previously never finished inside the top 10 (Previous best – 15th 2018/2019). The winning margin was 5 points, with that having been up to 8 points and down to 4 during the course of the afternoon. Kev Booth managed to finish 2nd in only his second season.  Glenn Baker finished in 3rd, his highest finish since a 4th place in 22-23. Former champions Kev Morrison and Dan Stewart finish in 4th and 5th.

The winners curse struck once again, as found out by Harris Khan. Last years champion Khan could only manage a 69th place finish, his second lowest of his career. Can Neil Aitchison put that curse to bed?!

The final day predictions saw some big points being won. Barry Beck came out on top with 17 points. Beck predicted 5 correct scores and 2 correct outcomes and moved up 27 places to 23rd to secure a Bezza Europe spot for next season. Grant Taylor was 2nd today with 15 points. Taylor predicted 4 correct scores and 3 correct outcomes to climb 23 places to 36th on the final day. Former league and cup champion Tom Beck finished the season strong with a 3rd place finish for week 38, although his 14 point haul wasn’t enough to see him qualify for europe.

TOP SCORERS THIS WEEK

1ST – Barry Beck – 17pts

2ND – Grant Taylor – 15pts

3RD – Tom Beck – 14pts

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR TAKING PART IN THIS SEASONS BEZZA LEAGUE. I HOPE YOU HAVE ENJOYED IT AND HOPE TO SEE YOU AGAIN NEXT SEASON!

Week 37 Results

The penultimate week of the season saw Craig Wilson top the scoring charts this week with 13 points. Wilson predicted 3 correct scores and 4 correct outcomes to move up 17 places to 54th in the league table. Too late for a Bezza Europe spot? Jonny Halliday and Jane Baird were second with 12 points, both moving up to 35th and 89th respectively. Paul Gray and Sarah Ellis were third with 11 points.

Neil Aitchison extends his lead at the top just at the right time, he now has a 7 point lead at the top going into the final weekend. Can anyone stop him now! Kev Booth takes over in 2nd, with Kev Morrison a further point back in 3rd. Glenn Baker drops 1 place to 4th a further point back. Former champion Dan Stewart climbs into 5th.

The final week is on Sunday, with all games kicking off at 4pm. I will be doing the usual top 12 live table, so keep an eye on the website, Facebook and Instagram for updates. Paul Maxwell still holds the highest weekly score of the season with 21 points, this is the last week to take that prize off him…although that is some ask!
